The SCALES OKN team is unbelievably thrilled to be one of the five teams awarded a Phase II grant to build an open knowledge network and address national-scale societal challenges as a part of the NSF Convergence Accelerator.
“Our mission from Day 1 has been to transform the transparency and accessibility of court records. Over the last 9 months, we’ve received extensive engagement and support from the community to help us define what that mission means in practice — defining what legal aid organizations, legal scholars, and journalists need from such a platform so that we can collectively achieve that broader mission. These community partnerships have helped us define what that platform should be and helped us grow our team so that we can fully tackle the problem.
The continued support from the NSF and its belief in our project will allows us to execute on our roadmap to build the SCALES OKN for the public good. We will continue updating on our progress through our blog and via Twitter (letting everyone know when internal tools become publicly available, when volunteers could further platform testing, and more) and as always get in touch with us if you want to collaborate or learn how the SCALES OKN could support your own mission. ”
